Crosby Lazy River
A commercial wet deck that stays green through a full swim season.
Project OverviewA Lazy River
A Lazy River
Island in Turf at Crosby
The island in the middle of the lazy river is surfaced in turf, along with the deck areas around it. It is a constantly wet, constantly walked-on amenity space at a residential community — the sort of place where a natural lawn is mud by July and a concrete deck is too hot to stand on.
Everything about this build is drainage. The base under a wet deck has to move water faster than the swimmers bring it out of the pool, and the turf backing has to be perforated to match. The curved island edge is cut and anchored to the coping line so there is nothing to catch a bare foot on.
