The difference between a commercial green and a home green is how many feet cross it. A country club practice green, a hotel or apartment amenity green, and an office green all get played through the day by people who did not build the surface and will not maintain it. That volume shows up in specific places: the walking line onto the green, the ground beside every cup, and the seam where the putting surface meets the fringe. So we build for traffic first. A properly compacted base that will not settle under repeat footfall, contours shaped into that base rather than into the grass, and a collar seamed to take the wear at the edges.
Indoor and outdoor greens are then two different builds. Outdoors on the Gulf Coast the green has to shed a heavy downpour and sit through hurricane season, which runs June 1 through November 30, so it gets a permeable backing, a drainable sub-base, and perimeter anchoring that survives standing water on clay. Indoors there is no rain and no sun at all, which removes the drainage and UV problem completely and replaces it with three others: a concrete slab to read for moisture and flatness, a ceiling and lighting plan to work around, and the choice between a glued install and a floating one. We measure the space, ask how the green will actually be played, and build to whichever set of constraints you have.
What Can I Expect From Indoor & Outdoor Putting Greens in Houston?
Brushing and infill, mostly. The roll comes from the sand held down in the pile, so the green stays true as long as that sand stays level and the fibers stay standing up. Play pushes both around, worst of all on the walking lines and the ground beside each cup. Brushing lifts the pile back up and moves the sand back where it belongs, and topping the infill up replaces what gets tracked off. Clearing leaves and debris matters too, because anything left sitting on a green mats the fibers under it. We walk your grounds or maintenance staff through the routine and the tools before we leave the site.
Kiln-dried silica sand, brushed down into the pile rather than spread across the top. The sand does three jobs at once: it holds the fibers upright, it gives the surface the firmness a ball needs to roll instead of skid, and it weighs the turf down so it lies flat. How much goes in is a spec decision we make with you, because a shorter pile carrying more sand plays firmer and faster and a lighter fill plays slower. Topdressing more sand in later is also how a green that has slowed down over the years gets brought back.
Neither one wins on its own, so be careful with anyone who tells you it does. The two fibers are usually specified for different jobs, with nylon common on the putting surface itself and polypropylene more often used for the fringe and collar runs around it. Which one suits your green depends on the specific product, the infill it is built to carry, and how hard the surface will be played. Instead of arguing materials on paper, we bring samples of the products we actually install, set them up with the right infill, and let you roll a ball across them.
Often yes, but the deck decides that, not the turf. A rooftop or podium green is a lightweight build with no excavation, so the contours are shaped with pads and panels laid over the existing slab instead of cut into an aggregate base. Three things get checked before anything else. What load the structure can carry with turf, infill, and a group of players on it. Where the water goes, since it has to reach the existing deck drains and nothing may pond on a roof. And how the assembly is held down against wind at that height. Bring your structural engineer or building manager in early and the rest is straightforward.

A Simple Process
From Start to Finish.
Our proven installation process ensures every project is completed efficiently with exceptional attention to detail.
We strip the existing lawn and excavate down to a clean, stable sub-grade. Old roots, thatch, and loose topsoil all come out, because anything organic left behind will settle later and telegraph through the finished turf.
Flexible poly board is staked around the entire perimeter to lock the base in place. It holds your shape through curves and radii, keeps the aggregate from migrating into beds, and gives the turf a clean edge to be fastened to.
The first base layer goes down and is graded for drainage. This is the load-bearing course that carries foot traffic and keeps the surface from rutting, and it is where the finished contours of the yard are established.
A second, finer layer is screeded over the first to true the surface. Two layers instead of one is what separates a lawn that stays flat for years from one that dips and waves after the first wet season.
The base is plate-compacted to spec, then the turf is rolled out, allowed to relax, and cut to the yard. Seams are aligned to a single blade direction and joined so they disappear, and the turf is nailed off along every edge.
Silica infill is spread and worked in with a power broom, lifting every blade upright as it goes. Infill is what gives the lawn its ballast, its underfoot feel, and its ability to stand back up after traffic.
We do a final groom, clear the site, and walk the finished yard with you edge to edge. What you are left with is a lawn that looks cut every day of the year, with no mowing, watering, or seasonal brown-out.

Green Speed
How Fast Does a Synthetic Putting Green Roll?
As fast as you specify it, within the range the product allows. Green speed is measured with a USGA stimpmeter and reported as feet of ball roll. On a synthetic green that speed is a build decision rather than a mowing decision: fiber type, fiber height, how much silica sand is brushed into the pile, and how the surface is rolled all set the pace. We agree the target with you before the order goes in, then build the green to it.

A commercial green wears by traffic, not by the calendar. It does not thin out evenly across the surface. Wear shows up first in the three places feet keep landing: the walking line onto the green, the ground around each cup, and the fringe seam at the edge. How long does an installation take?
Most residential projects are complete in 2–4 days. Larger commercial installs typically take 1–2 weeks.
What is included in your warranty?
Every install carries the manufacturer's product warranty against fading and wear, plus our own workmanship coverage on seams, edging, and base. Full terms come with your proposal.
Is artificial turf safe for pets and children?
Yes. We install lead-free, non-toxic turf over a permeable base that drains quickly, and we can add an antimicrobial infill for pet areas to keep odours down.
How much maintenance does artificial turf need?
A rinse now and then and an occasional cross-brush of the high-traffic paths. No mowing, no watering, no fertiliser, and no seasonal brown-out.
Will the turf get too hot in the Houston sun?
Turf runs warmer than a natural lawn in direct sun. We specify cooler yarn and lighter infill where a yard gets full afternoon exposure, and a quick rinse brings the surface temperature straight back down.
