A bocce court is a compacted base inside a solid frame, and the surface sits on top of that. Crushed oyster shell is the traditional surface on the Gulf Coast. It plays well when it is fresh, but it needs raking, top-dressing and weeding, and a Houston downpour moves it around. Turf bocce gives you a true, level roll with none of that upkeep, which is why apartment and HOA amenity decks almost always ask for it. We excavate, set the frame and edge restraint, compact a crushed aggregate base, grade it flat, then lay a short, dense turf dressed with sand to control speed. Court sizes vary a lot between regulation and recreational builds, so we size yours to the space and to how your members actually play.

Artificial turf. The glass walls and the cage are the structure, and the playing surface itself is turf, dressed with silica sand. The sand does the real work: it holds the fibers upright, controls how the ball skids off the surface, and gives players the slide they expect. Pile height and sand volume change how fast the court plays, so we go over both with you before anything is ordered. Under the turf, a padel court needs the same flat, well drained base a tennis court needs. The court is small, so every high spot shows up in the bounce.

Service life is measured in hours played, not years on a calendar. A field carrying league play seven nights a week wears far faster than a field used a few hours a day. Sun exposure matters here too, which is why fiber quality and UV stability are worth paying for on the Gulf Coast. Grooming, decompaction and topping up infill on a set schedule add real time to a field. A shock pad under the carpet usually outlives the carpet, so a replacement is often a re-carpet rather than a full rebuild, and the system is backed by the manufacturer's warranty.
