A mini golf course is a built environment. Guests pay to walk it, so the surface has to look right on hole one and still read true at closing time. In Greater Houston that means building around the weather. Gumbo clay sheds a downpour instead of taking it, hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, and standing water on a hole ends play for the day. Heat in July and August pushes traffic into the evening, which is why shade, lighting, and indoor builds come up in almost every conversation we have with an operator.
We build the surface and everything under it: routing and hole layout on your real dimensions, the base (poured concrete or a modular system), the rails and curbing that set your bank shots, cup hardware, tee pads, and putting-grade turf cut and seamed around every curve. Themed obstacles, props, and water features are drawn by your course designer or built by a fabricator, and we coordinate with them so the base, the turf, and the theming all land together. Nine holes on a brewery patio or eighteen at an entertainment center, the quote starts the same way, with an on-site measure.
What Can I Expect From Mini Golf Course Turf in Houston?
Your course designer or fabricator draws the themed obstacles, and we build the surface they sit on. That surface is the part the ball actually plays: the banks, tiers, ramps, and rolls shaped into the base, plus the rails and curbing that make a bank shot work the way the drawing says it should. Tunnels, windmills, props, and water features get set into the layout, and we cut and seam the turf tight around every one of them so there is no lip for a ball to catch. You start with the walking route, not the holes. A nine-hole course has to send groups around a loop that never crosses itself, with enough space between one green and the next tee that a waiting group is not standing in someone's line. Then you mix the holes: a couple of quick ones so the first tee keeps moving, one or two feature holes people stop and photograph, and a closer. Nine holes is the right call for a brewery patio, an RV park, or an amenity deck where eighteen will not fit.
Short-pile, tightly-tufted putting-grade turf, not landscape grass. The pile has to sit low and dense so the ball rolls true and holds its line coming off a bank. It is glued and seamed to a rigid base instead of laid loose over soil, which makes seam layout and adhesive choice matter more than infill on most holes. Cup cut-outs are set around the standard 4.25 inch golf cup, so off-the-shelf cup liners, rims, and flags drop straight in.
Concrete if you own the property and want it permanent, modular if you are in a lease or may want to move it. A poured concrete base lets you shape curbs and contours into the slab, holds a true roll the longest, and handles standing water well. A modular or aggregate-over-frame course goes in faster, costs far less to take out, and is the safer call in leased space you may have to hand back the way you found it. We make that call with you on the first site walk, because it drives everything downstream.

From Start to Finish.
Our proven installation process ensures every project is completed efficiently with exceptional attention to detail.
We strip the existing lawn and excavate down to a clean, stable sub-grade. Old roots, thatch, and loose topsoil all come out, because anything organic left behind will settle later and telegraph through the finished turf.
Flexible poly board is staked around the entire perimeter to lock the base in place. It holds your shape through curves and radii, keeps the aggregate from migrating into beds, and gives the turf a clean edge to be fastened to.
The first base layer goes down and is graded for drainage. This is the load-bearing course that carries foot traffic and keeps the surface from rutting, and it is where the finished contours of the yard are established.
A second, finer layer is screeded over the first to true the surface. Two layers instead of one is what separates a lawn that stays flat for years from one that dips and waves after the first wet season.
The base is plate-compacted to spec, then the turf is rolled out, allowed to relax, and cut to the yard. Seams are aligned to a single blade direction and joined so they disappear, and the turf is nailed off along every edge.
Silica infill is spread and worked in with a power broom, lifting every blade upright as it goes. Infill is what gives the lawn its ballast, its underfoot feel, and its ability to stand back up after traffic.
We do a final groom, clear the site, and walk the finished yard with you edge to edge. What you are left with is a lawn that looks cut every day of the year, with no mowing, watering, or seasonal brown-out.

How Much Space Does an 18-Hole Mini Golf Course Need?
It is set by the routing, not by one square footage figure, so we will not publish a number we cannot stand behind. What drives the footprint is how many holes you want, how long the feature holes play, and how much room the walking route and the queue lines need between them. We measure your site or your lease space first, then lay the holes out on the real dimensions before anything gets priced.
Build cost is a separate question, and we answer it on our commercial golf and putting greens page. Either way there is no flat rate for a course. We measure on site, price the layout you actually want, and the estimate is free.

Should Your Mini Golf Course Be Indoor or Outdoor in Houston?
Houston plays outdoors all twelve months, so the real question is what you do about July. Midday heat in July and August pushes traffic into the evening, and hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, so an outdoor course needs shade, lighting for night play, and drainage sized for a Gulf downpour. An indoor build trades all of that for slab prep, ceiling height, column positions, and a lease you may have to hand back the way you found it.

How Long Does Mini Golf Turf Last Under Constant Foot Traffic?
Wear shows up in the traffic lanes first, not evenly across the hole. Paying guests walk the same line to the cup, stand in the same spot on the tee pad, and drag putters over the same seams, so those strips age faster than the rest of the surface. We will not put a number of years on it, because play volume and upkeep move it far more than the turf does, and the turf itself is backed by the manufacturer's warranty.
Where It Wears
The line from the tee pad to the cup, the turn at a bank, and the seam beside a rail take the most traffic. Those strips are the ones to check first.
Keeping It Playing
Sweep the surface, blow off leaves and spilled drinks, and top up the sand infill where the spec calls for it. Check the seams and cup rims on a set schedule.
Fixing One Hole
Turf is cut and seamed hole by hole, so a worn strip or a tired hole gets replaced on its own. You do not resurface the whole course to fix hole seven.

How long does an installation take?
Most residential projects are complete in 2–4 days. Larger commercial installs typically take 1–2 weeks.
What is included in your warranty?
Every install carries the manufacturer's product warranty against fading and wear, plus our own workmanship coverage on seams, edging, and base. Full terms come with your proposal.
Is artificial turf safe for pets and children?
Yes. We install lead-free, non-toxic turf over a permeable base that drains quickly, and we can add an antimicrobial infill for pet areas to keep odours down.
How much maintenance does artificial turf need?
A rinse now and then and an occasional cross-brush of the high-traffic paths. No mowing, no watering, no fertiliser, and no seasonal brown-out.
Will the turf get too hot in the Houston sun?
Turf runs warmer than a natural lawn in direct sun. We specify cooler yarn and lighter infill where a yard gets full afternoon exposure, and a quick rinse brings the surface temperature straight back down.
How much does an artificial turf installation cost?
