A commercial green has a different job than a backyard one. It takes traffic all day, it gets played by people who did not build it, and it still has to read true at closing time. Holding natural grass to that standard is expensive here. Bentgrass is a cool-season grass, and the warm, humid nights on the upper Texas Gulf Coast keep it stressed straight through the summer, which is why greens in this region are usually ultradwarf Bermudagrass and why the practice green is often the most costly patch of grass on the property.
We build the surface around how it will be played. Breaks, tiers, and cup positions are shaped into a compacted aggregate base before any turf goes down, because the contour lives in the base and not in the grass. Green speed is specified up front and set with fiber choice, sand infill depth, and rolling, then checked before we hand it over. Outdoor work gets a permeable backing, a drainable base, and perimeter anchoring that survives standing water, since hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30 and Houston clay sheds a downpour instead of taking it. Indoor work is a different build: simulator bays and lounge greens usually run non-infilled nylon, which holds its shape under concentrated traffic in a small footprint.
What Can I Expect From Commercial Golf & Putting Greens in Houston?
Start at about 10 feet of clear ceiling, then check that against your tallest player. Treat 10 feet as a design check and not a rule, because a tall golfer with a driver needs more, and a low duct, beam, or sprinkler head can rule out a bay that measures fine on paper. It starts with the base, not the carpet. You choose between a poured concrete base and a compacted aggregate base first, because that call sets how true the roll stays over the years and how the course handles standing water after a Gulf storm. Then the holes are laid out and graded, rails and borders go in, cup hardware is set, and the mini golf turf is cut and seamed around every curve and obstacle. Obstacles, lighting, and landscaping follow. We can phase the work hole by hole so an operating venue keeps part of the course open.
Most groups finish 18 holes in about an hour to an hour and a half. Group size drives that more than anything else, since a foursome moves slower than a pair, and a course full of long trick holes backs up at the first tee. If throughput matters to your revenue, the layout is where you fix it: mix quick holes with feature holes, space the tees so groups do not stack up, and keep the walking route from crossing itself. Those are design decisions, and they are far cheaper to make before the base goes in.

Our proven installation process ensures every project is completed efficiently with exceptional attention to detail.
We strip the existing lawn and excavate down to a clean, stable sub-grade. Old roots, thatch, and loose topsoil all come out, because anything organic left behind will settle later and telegraph through the finished turf.
Flexible poly board is staked around the entire perimeter to lock the base in place. It holds your shape through curves and radii, keeps the aggregate from migrating into beds, and gives the turf a clean edge to be fastened to.
The first base layer goes down and is graded for drainage. This is the load-bearing course that carries foot traffic and keeps the surface from rutting, and it is where the finished contours of the yard are established.
A second, finer layer is screeded over the first to true the surface. Two layers instead of one is what separates a lawn that stays flat for years from one that dips and waves after the first wet season.
The base is plate-compacted to spec, then the turf is rolled out, allowed to relax, and cut to the yard. Seams are aligned to a single blade direction and joined so they disappear, and the turf is nailed off along every edge.
Silica infill is spread and worked in with a power broom, lifting every blade upright as it goes. Infill is what gives the lawn its ballast, its underfoot feel, and its ability to stand back up after traffic.
We do a final groom, clear the site, and walk the finished yard with you edge to edge. What you are left with is a lawn that looks cut every day of the year, with no mowing, watering, or seasonal brown-out.

A mini golf course is priced per hole, not per square foot, and the base you build on moves the number most. A poured concrete base gives a permanently true roll and handles flooding better, while a compacted aggregate base costs less and goes in faster. Hole count, rails, obstacles, and cup hardware take it from there, so we quote from your site and your layout instead of a flat rate.
The one rate we publish is the putting green rate: $18.50 to $24.50 per square foot installed. A mini golf course is quoted separately and per hole, because the base and the hardware move that budget far more than the turf does.
