The turf itself is a pet-grade product with fully perforated flow-through backing, which is the right call at this urine concentration, and it is backed by the manufacturer's warranty. Then we add the parts that get forgotten in a bid: a wash-down point, a waste station, signage people can find, and lighting for the walks that happen in the dark.
What Can I Expect From Pet Relief Station Turf in Houston?
We size it to the dogs, not to a rule of thumb, because there is no size standard we can honestly quote you. Start with how many dogs actually live in or visit the building rather than the unit count or the key count. Then look at walking distance from the doors people really use. If the pad is a long walk away, residents and guests will not make the trip and you will still be cleaning the lawn by the entry. On a large property that usually means one pad per tower or per wing instead of one central pad. The build changes to suit: instead of an excavated aggregate base you get a drainage layer that moves water across the deck to a drain, and over a roof or podium the waterproofing membrane below needs protection. Attachment is normally done without penetrating the deck, and a roof also brings wind uplift and added dead load into the conversation. Those details come off the manufacturer's installation instructions and your roofing consultant's direction, not off a web page, so we do not guess at them. The step people skip is calling whoever holds the roofing warranty before anything goes down. We make that call part of the job, because work on a roof done without it can put the warranty at risk.
It has to be sent somewhere on purpose, because a hard deck has nothing to soak it up. On a structural deck we slope the drainage layer to a low point and tie it into a roof drain or a deck drain. On a slab at grade that can mean a channel drain at the edge of the pad or a run to the nearest area drain. Where the property allows it and the plumbing is close, tying the pad into a sanitary line is the cleanest answer, because then a wash-down carries the rinse water away instead of onto a walkway or a resident's balcony below. That is a plumbing decision and it needs your engineer's sign-off, so we raise it at the walk-through and not at the end. We also set a hose bib or a quick-connect at the pad so staff can rinse it without dragging a hose across the deck.
The turf is roughly half of what you are actually buying. A marked relief area needs signage so residents, guests or travelers can find it and know what it is for. It needs a waste bag dispenser and a covered can on an emptying schedule, because a full can is the odor complaint people report even when the surface is clean. It needs a wash-down point close enough to use. It usually needs lighting, since dogs get walked before sunrise and after dark. Most properties add a post or a hydrant feature so dogs use the spot you intended instead of the corner of it. A Simple Process
From Start to Finish.
Our proven installation process ensures every project is completed efficiently with exceptional attention to detail.
We strip the existing lawn and excavate down to a clean, stable sub-grade. Old roots, thatch, and loose topsoil all come out, because anything organic left behind will settle later and telegraph through the finished turf.
Flexible poly board is staked around the entire perimeter to lock the base in place. It holds your shape through curves and radii, keeps the aggregate from migrating into beds, and gives the turf a clean edge to be fastened to.
The first base layer goes down and is graded for drainage. This is the load-bearing course that carries foot traffic and keeps the surface from rutting, and it is where the finished contours of the yard are established.
A second, finer layer is screeded over the first to true the surface. Two layers instead of one is what separates a lawn that stays flat for years from one that dips and waves after the first wet season.
The base is plate-compacted to spec, then the turf is rolled out, allowed to relax, and cut to the yard. Seams are aligned to a single blade direction and joined so they disappear, and the turf is nailed off along every edge.
Silica infill is spread and worked in with a power broom, lifting every blade upright as it goes. Infill is what gives the lawn its ballast, its underfoot feel, and its ability to stand back up after traffic.
We do a final groom, clear the site, and walk the finished yard with you edge to edge. What you are left with is a lawn that looks cut every day of the year, with no mowing, watering, or seasonal brown-out.

A relief pad is priced per pad, not per square foot, because on an area this small the per-foot number stops meaning much. Getting a crew, materials and a dumpster to your property costs close to the same whether the pad is small or a little larger. On a rooftop the drainage layer, the membrane protection and getting material up to the deck can add up to more than the turf itself.
There is no flat rate for a pad this size, and a per-square-foot number quoted over the phone would mislead you. If you have several buildings, several wings or several floors, ask us to price them as one mobilization, because that is usually where the savings sit. Is A Turf Relief Station Better Than Pee Pads Or A Subscription Grass Patch?
For a building, yes. Pee pads, tray systems and weekly grass-patch subscriptions are built for one dog in one apartment, and every one of them bills you again next month. A turf relief station is installed once, drains to a real drain, and rinses down with a hose. It also serves every dog in the building at the same time, which no tray or delivered patch can do.

How long does an installation take?

What is included in your warranty?
Every install carries the manufacturer's product warranty against fading and wear, plus our own workmanship coverage on seams, edging, and base. Full terms come with your proposal.
Is artificial turf safe for pets and children?
Yes. We install lead-free, non-toxic turf over a permeable base that drains quickly, and we can add an antimicrobial infill for pet areas to keep odours down.
How much maintenance does artificial turf need?
