A showroom floor is a selling surface. Polished concrete, VCT and gray commercial carpet all disappear behind the product, which is usually the point, but a display works harder when the product is standing on something. Indoor turf gives you a clean green floor for a showroom pad, a window set, a product island or a vehicle display, and it reads the same in person as it does in a photo under your lighting. It is also the one turf job in Houston that has nothing to do with the weather. No rain reaches it, no summer sun bakes it, and what sits under it is a finished floor rather than gumbo clay.
That changes what the work actually is. There is no excavation, no crushed base and no drainage layer, because there is no water to move. Indoor turf is a flooring assembly: the turf is bonded or double-stick taped to polished concrete, VCT, tile, epoxy or the commercial carpet already down, cut and seamed to the shape of the space, then finished with a flush, beveled edge where it meets the hard floor so nothing catches a wheel or a heel. We check the substrate first, including a moisture check on a slab on grade, since Houston sits on a high water table and most retail and dealership floors are slab on grade. If you lease the space, the gate is usually your landlord and the alterations clause in your lease rather than a use permit, because the City of Houston has no zoning ordinance. What Can I Expect From Indoor Display Turf in Houston?
It goes down as a flooring job, bonded or double-stick taped straight to the floor you already have. There is no excavation, no crushed base and no drainage layer, because indoors there is no water to move. The floor has to be sound, clean, flat and dry first. That last one matters in Houston, where most retail and dealership floors are slab on grade and a slab can push moisture up into an adhesive bond, so a moisture check on the concrete comes before any glue. Polished concrete, VCT, ceramic tile, epoxy and existing commercial carpet each take a different approach, and the adhesive is chosen off the manufacturer's datasheet for the surface you actually have. Then the turf is cut, seamed and rolled so it lies flat with no bubbles.
Yes, and cutting and seaming is most of the skill in an indoor install. We template the shape first, then cut from the back of the roll with every panel running the same direction. Turf has a nap, and two panels laid opposite ways read as two different greens under showroom lighting. Seams are joined and bonded from underneath so nothing shows on top. Curves, round product islands, cut-in logos and two-tone inlays are all workable. Where the layout allows it, we plan the seams to land under a fixture or a display piece instead of out in the open where a customer's eye follows the floor.
Ask for the mill's own documentation on the exact product you are specifying, and read it rather than taking a general claim from any installer. Lead-free is the standard to ask for by name. Indoors there is one thing that helps on its own: most interior display work uses little or no infill, which takes the loose-crumb question off the table. New turf and fresh adhesive can carry an odor for a few days, so bonded installs get scheduled around a closed day or an overnight and the space is aired out before you reopen. Interior finish materials in a commercial building also carry flame-spread requirements, and the fire-rating documentation for the specific turf we spec is provided and confirmed on every project.
Pick for how it looks and how it walks, not for weather. Outdoors, half the spec is drainage rate, UV stability and surface heat. Indoors none of that is doing any work, so the choice comes down to pile height, face weight, fiber color and how the surface photographs under your lighting. A short, dense, low-pile grass is the usual answer for a shoes-on floor: it stays flat under a display, it does not hold footprints, and it vacuums fast. A putting green nap is the other common pick, for a showroom green or an office amenity. One real exception: behind a south or west facing display window, direct sun through the glass will still fade an unstabilized fiber over time, so a window set gets a UV-stable product even though it lives inside.

Our proven installation process ensures every project is completed efficiently with exceptional attention to detail.
We strip the existing lawn and excavate down to a clean, stable sub-grade. Old roots, thatch, and loose topsoil all come out, because anything organic left behind will settle later and telegraph through the finished turf.
Flexible poly board is staked around the entire perimeter to lock the base in place. It holds your shape through curves and radii, keeps the aggregate from migrating into beds, and gives the turf a clean edge to be fastened to.
The first base layer goes down and is graded for drainage. This is the load-bearing course that carries foot traffic and keeps the surface from rutting, and it is where the finished contours of the yard are established.
A second, finer layer is screeded over the first to true the surface. Two layers instead of one is what separates a lawn that stays flat for years from one that dips and waves after the first wet season.
The base is plate-compacted to spec, then the turf is rolled out, allowed to relax, and cut to the yard. Seams are aligned to a single blade direction and joined so they disappear, and the turf is nailed off along every edge.
Silica infill is spread and worked in with a power broom, lifting every blade upright as it goes. Infill is what gives the lawn its ballast, its underfoot feel, and its ability to stand back up after traffic.
We do a final groom, clear the site, and walk the finished yard with you edge to edge. What you are left with is a lawn that looks cut every day of the year, with no mowing, watering, or seasonal brown-out.

We do not publish a flat per square foot price for indoor display turf, because the number moves on what is under the floor and on whether the install stays. A bonded showroom pad over polished concrete, a small window set cut to a template, and a trade-show booth that gets taken back up all price differently in the same building. We measure the space, check the substrate, and put the real figure in writing before any work starts.
Two things move an indoor quote more than anything else. The first is the substrate, because tile, VCT, epoxy and existing carpet each want a different adhesive and a different amount of prep. The second is whether the turf is bonded down for good or taped in for a run of a few days. How Do You Keep Showroom Turf Clean Without Being Able to Hose It Down?
You vacuum it. Indoor turf is maintained like a commercial floor covering rather than like a lawn, because there is no drain and no hose in the middle of a showroom. A regular vacuum pass lifts the grit that would otherwise grind the fiber down, spills get blotted and spot cleaned by hand, and a brush pass every so often stands the pile back up in the traffic lanes.
Vacuum, Do Not Rinse
Suction or a low-agitation head does the work. Skip a hard beater bar, which can pull at the fiber. Nightly in a busy showroom, weekly in a quiet window set.
Blot Spills, Then Spot Clean
Blot first with a dry towel, work from the outside of the spill in, then spot clean with a mild cleaner and blot again. Check anything stronger with us before you use it.
Brush The Traffic Lanes
A stiff broom or a power broom through doorways and around the product island lifts the nap back up, so the lanes do not read flatter than the rest of the floor.

How long does an installation take?
