A sidewalk of alternating stone tiles and artificial turf panels beside a parking lot and palms

Galveston

A commercial frontage that stays green in salt air.

Project Overview

A Stone and Turf
Sidewalk in Galveston

A walkway of alternating stone tiles and turf panels running along the edge of a parking lot, past palms and a building frontage. It gives a hard-working commercial approach some greenery without giving up any of the walking surface.

On the coast, salt air and blown sand are what finish off planted verges. Turf takes both without discolouring, and needs no irrigation on a site where there is often no line to tap. Each panel is cut to its stone and anchored at the kerb so the edges stay tight under constant foot traffic.
