Cypress
A pool deck that stays cool enough to stand on.

Paver and Turf at Cypress
Seen out from under the covered patio, the deck is broken into large pavers with turf joints between them, carrying the eye out to the pool and the green chairs on the far side. The turf breaks up what would otherwise be a large, hot expanse of paving.
That is the practical argument for turf joints as much as the visual one: the green strips take heat out of the deck and give bare feet something softer to land on between stones. Each joint is cut to the paver, based and anchored on both edges so it stays put under pool traffic. The overhead frame shows a second Cypress job — a kidney practice green worked in beside the pool, with the fringe seamed around it.
