A long modern pool with turf running the full length of one side and stone stepping stones set into the grass along the deck. There is no mowing strip and no gravel band — the lawn simply meets the coping, which is only possible when the surface does not need cutting.

Turf at a pool edge has to be anchored into the coping line so it cannot be lifted by wet feet, and based so that splash-out drains away rather than pooling at the perimeter. The stepping stones are set on their own bedding to sit dead flush with the turf pile, not proud of it.
