A kerbed artificial turf island with picnic tables under a shade canopy and planted beds

Hedwig Village

An outdoor break area that looks the same in August as in March.

Project Overview

A Picnic Area
in Turf at Hedwig Village

A kerbed island of turf set into paving, with picnic tables under a shade canopy and planting beds along the edges. It is a commercial break area — used every working day, at the same few spots, by the same people.

That concentrated use is exactly what natural grass cannot take: chairs and table legs in the same positions kill it within weeks. Turf holds up because there is nothing living to wear out. The perimeter is anchored into the kerb line so the edge stays crisp where people step off the paving.
