Montrose

Two Montrose spaces, both long and narrow. The first is a gated front courtyard — a strip of lawn behind ironwork with the street just beyond. The second is a rear courtyard built around a lap pool and spa, with turf running along the pool and up to the outdoor kitchen.

Narrow spaces show every fault, because you are always looking down the length of them. The turf is laid in a single run wherever the width allows so there is no seam down the middle, with the pile set to run away from the main view. The rooftop is the odd one out and the hardest: no soil, no fall to play with, and a waterproof membrane underneath that the installation is not allowed to touch.
