A wide practice green with a flagstick, house and covered patio beyond

Fulshear

Room to actually practise, not just a novelty hole.

Project Overview

Backyard Practice
Greens in Fulshear

These are practice greens with real length to them — enough surface to hold several cups and to give you a putt worth reading, rather than the three-metre novelty greens that get used twice. One is built out on a block retaining wall so the putting surface sits level while the ground beneath it falls away.

A green is the most technical thing we build. The base is graded and compacted tighter than a lawn base, the putting turf is a shorter, denser pile than the surrounding lawn, and the cups are cut in and set flush so a ball drops rather than rims out. The fringe turf around it is a separate, longer product, seamed in to give the green a defined edge.
