Professional Artificial
Turf Installation in Lake Jackson, TX

Lake Jackson was drawn as a whole town in 1941 and its trees were protected from the start. Eighty years on, that canopy is why the grass under it gives up.

Green Under
Lake Jackson’s Kept Trees

Lake Jackson sits about 52 miles south of downtown Houston, and we are honest that this is a drive rather than a neighborhood call. We plan the work around that: a single free site visit to measure and assess drainage, a fixed written quote, and then an install run as one continuous job rather than a string of short days.

The town itself is unusual. Architect Alden B. Dow laid it out in 1941 for Dow Chemical employees near the Freeport plant, with winding streets instead of a grid because he wanted a surprise around each turn. He also directed that as many trees as possible be spared when the streets and mains went in. Crews had orders not to touch marked trees.

Under the Canopy

Curving Streets, Eighty-Year Shade, and Coastal Ground

Those spared trees are now mature, and warm-season grass cannot live under them. St. Augustine thins to bare dirt in deep shade, then the soil washes into ruts and reseeding buys a few months at best. Artificial turf does not need light, so the strip beside the house holds the same color as the open lawn. You keep the canopy, which is the whole character of the town, and stop fighting what grows beneath it.

Lake Jackson also sits low on the coastal plain in south central Brazoria County, about ten miles upriver from the mouth of the Brazos. County soils are mostly alluvial loams and clays that are productive when drained and difficult when not. Add curving streets and irregular lot shapes from the original plan, and yards here rarely have a simple slope to work with. We survey the fall before we design the base.

  • Shade is the whole problem

Grass fails under a mature canopy no matter what you feed it. Turf is the one surface that keeps an even color in permanent shade, with no seeding season and no bare patch.

  • Leaf and needle litter sweeps off

Fallen leaves smother thin grass. On turf they sit on top and blow or sweep away, and the lawn underneath comes back unchanged.

  • Odd lot shapes, measured properly

The 1941 plan gave this town curving streets and irregular yards. We template the shape on site rather than working from a rectangle, so seams land where they should.

FAQ

Frequently asked,
clearly answered.

You are based in Houston. Do you actually come out to Lake Jackson?

Yes, and we will not pretend otherwise about the distance. Lake Jackson is roughly 52 miles south of downtown Houston, so this is an out-of-town job for us and we schedule it that way. You get one free on-site visit to measure and check drainage, a fixed written quote, and then a planned install rather than crews trickling in and out over a couple of weeks.

Can I put turf in without losing the trees Lake Jackson is known for?

That is usually the point of doing it. Turf goes over an excavated base, and around established trees we keep the excavation shallow and stay outside the main root zone where we can. The result is a lawn that survives the shade instead of a lawn that needs the tree removed. Talk to the city before removing anything, since local landscaping rules apply.

Does being close to the coast change the turf specification?

Salt air is harder on metal fixings than on the turf fibers themselves, so we pay attention to edging, fasteners and anything that anchors the perimeter. The bigger factor down here is water. Low coastal ground with alluvial clay and loam does not drain on its own, so the base has to carry runoff to an outfall rather than spread it across the yard.

How long does an installation take?

Most residential projects are complete in 2–4 days. Larger commercial installs typically take 1–2 weeks.

What is included in your warranty?

Every install carries the manufacturer's product warranty against fading and wear, plus our own workmanship coverage on seams, edging, and base. Full terms come with your proposal.

Is artificial turf safe for pets and children?

Yes. We install lead-free, non-toxic turf over a permeable base that drains quickly, and we can add an antimicrobial infill for pet areas to keep odours down.

How much maintenance does artificial turf need?

A rinse now and then and an occasional cross-brush of the high-traffic paths. No mowing, no watering, no fertiliser, and no seasonal brown-out.

Will the turf get too hot in the Houston sun?

Turf runs warmer than a natural lawn in direct sun. We specify cooler yarn and lighter infill where a yard gets full afternoon exposure, and a quick rinse brings the surface temperature straight back down.

How much does an artificial turf installation cost?

Pricing depends on square footage, the turf you choose, and how much prep the site needs. We measure on site and give you a fixed written quote before any work starts.
